Brittany Maynard: I Don't Want To Die, But I Want To On My Terms

http://cinecelebs2.blogspot.in/

Brittany Maynard is about to embark on her final adventure: To die with dignity.

Maynard, 29, has terminal brain cancer and has made plans to end her own life with the sedative Secobarbitol on November 1 if her suffering does not abate. Her story has touched millions, and has incurred its share of controversy. "I don't want to die but I am dying," Brittany Maynard laments to People.

"My [cancer] is going to kill me, and it's a terrible, terrible way to die." "So," she says, "to be able to die with my family with me, to have control over my own mind, which I would stand to lose – to go with dignity is less terrifying."

Maynard, her mother, stepfather, Gary Holmes, and husband, Dan Diaz, moved to Portland, Oregon, four months ago so Maynard could do what she feels she must:

Gain access to the west coast state's landmark Death with Dignity Act.

The former teacher, launched an online video campaign with Compassion & Choices, an end-of-life advocacy organization, to fight for national access to the law. That's not the only way she's making the most of her final days.

Born with an adventurer's spirit and the heart of a warrior, Maynard has been ice climbing in Ecuador and kayaking in Patagonia and has cared for orphans in Nepal. She hopes to see the Grand Canyon this month, which will be her last.

"We're going to try," says her mom Debbie. "It's her last hurrah."

DEEPIKA PADUKONE - IT IS EASY TO SWAYED IN BOLLYWOOD

RAM LEELA has released and turned out to be fifth success in a row for Deepika Padukone. Moreover, the kind of appreciation that has come in for Deepika is universal, something which is becoming a trend of sorts for her since COCKTAIL.

One can well believe that she is pretty much getting used to a continued successful run over last so many months.

"But then there was also a phase when my films were not doing well," sighs Deepika, "I am fortunate that I was never written off. People had faith in me and they stood by every decision of mine. That gives you a different kind of inner strength to go out there and keep working. For me it has been a great year already but somewhere deep down I was hoping that it ends on a good note. However to have such a high as RAM LEELA? Well, that is something great."

From OM SHANTI OM to RAM LEELA, she has demonstrated a consistent run too.

"It is important to keep the focus because in this industry, it is so easy to get swayed. It is easy to get dejected when your films are not going your way or hit the roof when they start turning out to be blockbusters. However success or failure, it is so important not to latch on them but instead move on to your next. This is what I am going to do with shooting for HAPPY NEW YEAR already on. I have moved on," says Deepika in a matter of fact tone.

While Deepika may be moving on to her next project, one waits to see if makers of her film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Kishore Lulla, have more projects designed for her already in months to come. Now that could well be an icing on the cake for the leggy actress.

SNOOKI CLAIMS PERFUME COMPANY RIPPED OFF HER SPECIAL SCENT

Has Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi been snookered? The reality TV star says a perfume company has stolen the scent of her own self-titled fragrance, “Snooki.”

The pint-sized Jersey mom is suing Excell Brands for $2.4 million, claiming it marketed a fragrance it calls “Snazzy”—something that she says smells like “Snooki” and reeks of a rip-off.

The former "Jersey Shore" star says “Snazzy” is so shameless about its trademark infringement, it even owns up to it on the box -- calling itself "our version of ‘Snooki ‘by Nicole Polizzi."

Snooks now wants a court to order Excell to stop selling “Snazzy” immediately, and she wants millions in damages. Excell has yet to comment publicly on the allegations.

BOSS AKSHAY KUMAR CONTROLS MAYHEM IN DELHI

The macho Akshay Kumar has been shooting for the most awaited action comedy of the year BOSS and he is going all out with this film in terms of action and comedy.

The team of BOSS just finished shooting in Delhi and some of the toughest action sequences were shot in the bustling Chandni Chowk and Jama Masjid. It is one of the most populated areas of the city which made the crew members have a tough time.

The crew had to manage a large crowd that turned up to witness the BOSS Kumar in action. Naturally, this created a nightmare for the crew to manage the number of people and also ensure the shoot to progress smoothly. And when the BOSS realized the chaos created by the crowd for shooting, he decided to do his own bit for controlling the crowd.

A crew member says, "The shootings were happening all day long and thousands had come to see their favorite star in flesh and blood. Even the 100 odd private security personnel and many more policemen couldn't control the crowd. After every break, Akshay had to literally wave to the audience and request them to calm down. At Chandni Chowk, he actually walked through the thousands of people who had come to see him into his car."

Needless to say, Akshay emerged as a saviour for the crew members.

Directed by Anthony D'souza, the film stars Akshay Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Shiv Pandit, Aditi Rao Hydari along with Danny Denzongpa, Ronit Roy, Johnny Lever.

Produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Cape Of Good Films and Ashwin Varde Productions BOSS is all set to release this 16th October!

BRITNEY SPEARS POSED A COUNTDOWN CLOCK ON HER WEBSITE WITH THE SIMPLE TEXT "ALL EYES ON ME."

Could this be a tell-tale sign on the singer’s newest single? Or album? Whatever it is, it is set to debut on 9:30 a.m. EST on September 17.

Britney teased fans last week explaining that her new album will arrive “MUCH sooner than you think.” Her latest track “Ooh La La” is featured in the animated flick “Smurfs 2” and during the film’s promotions, Spears said she was working on some new tracks.

Earlier this week, producer Naughty Boy also dished about the “Baby One More Time” singer’s new project, and said, “It's not out for another couple of weeks, but we've just started working on tracks for her until the studio session."

NARGIS FAKHRI AFTER ROCKSTAR CAN NOW BE SEEN IN MADRAS CAFE WITH JOHN ABRAHAM

Almost two years have passed since the release of her debut big screen outing ROCKSTAR. Now that Nargis Fakhri is returning with John Abraham starrer MADRAS CAFE, one wonders how she looks back at the months gone by. Was it a period of anxiety, wait, euphoria, excitement or more?

'Two years? Wow, that's something; I never realised,' says Nargis in an animated tone, 'Well, the time just flew past by. After ROCKSTAR, it was all so overwhelming for me. I could never imagine or expect how my life could change so drastically. I spent quite some time contemplating whether I should really move to Mumbai for good.'

She did take the plunge though and while there was a waiting period involved before she signed her next, there were other activities related to the world of glamour that kept her occupied.

'I knew for sure that my life would change. I couldn't have been the same person as I was during ROCKSTAR. Meanwhile, I was engaged non-stop with script reading, advertisements, cover shoots, campaigns, shows and events. See, since I wasn't prepared as a person and as an actor, I had to educate myself. I took some Hindi classes as well. Everything that one can imagine, I prepared for. It was akin to going back to school.'

Meanwhile the very fact that she was being remembered and written about made her feel that she was doing something correct after all.

'Don't they say that any news is good news,' she laughs, 'If media was talking about me, it was fantastic. The fact that I was in there was a surprise for me too. Yes, some things written about me were untrue but then I can ignore that. Otherwise generally I took it all in a positive light. After all, if there are people out there who want to know more about it, it is good, isn't it?'
